After three years of owning a new BMW you should book in for an MOT test. Following that, you will be required to book an MOT every year.
The standard inspection of over 150 safety and emissions related systems, including lights, steering, brakes and suspension, makes sure your BMW meets legal requirements, as well as helping preserve the driving experience you have come to enjoy.

Your first MOT inspection will arrive faster than you think. That’s why we offer BMW MOT Protect, a complimentary cover for all new BMWs. Your BMW MOT Protect covers you for any* work that needs completing to pass your first MOT inspection. In the unlikely event your BMW fails its first MOT, you won’t lose out, as repairs, replacements and labour are covered on a long list of key items, from electric and lighting equipment to steering and suspension. We’ll work with you to address any issues promptly and free of charge.
*MOT Protect will cover all items with the exception of the windscreen, wheels, tyres and items replaced as part of routine servicing (e.g. brake disks and pads) modified and/or non-BMW components
Your first MOT is £54. After that, they are just £40.
We’ll help prepare your vehicle for its MOT as much as we can and in the unlikely event that it does fail its MOT, we will work with you to find the reasons why and to ensure it passes a second time round.
A BMW MOT includes a 150-point vehicle inspection. If your BMW passes its inspection, you will be issued with an official VT20 certificate which is your receipt for the MOT test and shows the information that will be held on the MOT database. Any recommended additional work will be listed on the advisory notice of the VT32 document.
The first MOT would need to be completed three years from taking ownership of a new car. Then, after that, it should be completed annually.

When you book your MOT, why not ask your service advisor to add on a Fluid Top up service. For an additional £20 we replenish essential fluids in your BMW. *Terms and Conditionds apply.
*Fluid top up service comprises of a check and replenishment of Screen wash, anti-freeze, AdBlu, Brake fluid, engine oil (max top up 1 litre).
