Some experiences go beyond just driving cars, they’re about people, passion, and shared moments. Recently, the Sandal BMW team was invited to one such unforgettable day, in partnership with our long-standing customer and motorsport enthusiast Tom.
I March, Tom, who has been a proud member of the Sandal BMW community for years, brought together friends, fellow BMW M enthusiasts, for a bespoke track day experience. A day of celebrating the thrill of driving in its purest form, surrounded by great company, incredible cars, and unbeatable hospitality. And it did not disappoint.
The venue for this special day was none other than Croft Circuit, nestled in the beautiful surroundings of Dalton-on-Tees in North Yorkshire. Steeped in racing heritage, Croft Circuit has long held its place on the UK motorsport map. Once an RAF airfield, the circuit has evolved far beyond its origins to become one of the most technically challenging and engaging race circuits in the country.
Measuring 2.127 miles, the track offers a brilliant mix of sweeping corners, tight chicanes, and long straights - making it the perfect playground for the performance-oriented BMW M models showcased on the day. The circuit’s flowing layout, paired with the crisp March air and open skies, created an atmosphere that felt both exhilarating and immersive.
Our day began in comfort and style at Hangar 50, the newly introduced hospitality space located right in the heart of the circuit. Designed with both functionality and atmosphere in mind, Hangar 50 features a spacious open-plan layout, full catering facilities, and a covered outdoor terrace that overlooks the action on the track.
As we sipped freshly brewed tea and coffee, the morning buzz of anticipation set in. It was the perfect spot to gather, relax, and prepare for the day ahead. Conversations about cars, engines, and favourite track moments flowed freely as the group settled in. With panoramic views of the circuit and a calm, welcoming vibe, Hangar 50 felt like the ideal launchpad for what would soon become a high-octane experience.
With engines fired up and helmets fastened, the excitement truly kicked into gear. Whether riding shotgun or spectating from the sidelines, everyone had the opportunity to witness the power, precision, and performance of the BMW M lineup in full force.
Tom and his friends took to the track with confidence, pushing their M models to their limits through corners and down straights. The unmistakable roar of the engines echoed around the circuit, accompanied by the thrill of tyres gripping tarmac at speed. It was more than just a drive - it was a celebration of automotive engineering at its finest.
Meanwhile, members of the Sandal BMW team also got a chance to experience the circuit, both from inside the cars and from trackside vantage points. The combination of breathtaking speed, expertly controlled driving, and the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape made for an unforgettable sensory experience.
After an adrenaline-fueled session on the track, appetites were ready - and Tom had thought of everything. Thanks to his arrangement, we were treated to a truly special dining experience by Lucca Pizza Company, a mobile pizza van that brought the irresistible charm of wood-fired cooking to Croft Circuit.
From the moment the oven was fired up, the air was filled with the aroma of freshly baked dough and melted cheese. The menu offered something for everyone - from the classic crowd-pleasing pepperoni to more adventurous flavours like chilli honey and chorizo. Each pizza was a perfect balance of flavour and texture, showcasing just how satisfying simple, quality ingredients can be.
Lucca Pizza Company takes pride in crafting pizzas the traditional way. Their dough is made using only the finest 00 flour, yeast, sea salt, and water, then allowed to rest and rise for 72 hours - resulting in a light, airy base that’s both easy to eat and packed with flavour. Cooked in a 450°C wood-fired oven, every pizza is ready in just 90 seconds, with a perfectly crisp crust and melty, golden topping.
It wasn’t just lunch—it was a highlight of the day in itself. The combination of high-performance cars and artisan wood-fired pizza made for a unique and unforgettable experience.
As the sun began to dip behind the trees and the final laps of the day were completed, there was a shared feeling of satisfaction among everyone who attended. This was more than just a track day. It was an immersive experience thoughtfully designed to blend passion, precision, and hospitality into something truly memorable.
