For our third episode in the Living with Electric series, we caught up with Robin, a proud owner of a MINI Cooper S Electric for the past five years. From performance thrills to cost savings, Robin’s experience behind the wheel is a testament to the electric revolution.
Driven by MINI: A Passion on Wheels.
Robin’s passion for MINI stretches back decades. His first car was a MINI in the 1980s, followed by a MINI Cooper S, and eventually the electric version. Choosing electric wasn’t just a nod to environmental concerns – it also made perfect financial sense. A lot has changed since Robin’s first MINI: where he used to spend around £250 per 1,000 miles on fuel, he now spends just £25 on electricity - all while still enjoying the same thrilling drive.
Performance That Doesn’t Disappoint.
When asked what he loves most about his MINI Electric, Robin doesn’t hesitate: “The drive, the performance. And the colour - Enigmatic Black - is stunning.” He finds the all-electric experience exhilarating, whether navigating city streets or hitting the open road.
Robin’s advice for anyone considering making the switch from petrol or diesel? "What I would say to someone who is considering a switch from petrol to electric, first and foremost you won't be disappointed, you'll absolutely love the performance, also adding "You'll find that electric is different and you'll find it's just better, it's a very relaxing drive."

For many, range anxiety is a concern when moving to electric. Not for Robin. He uses his MINI for everything from local trips to long-distance journeys and hasn’t experienced any issues. The battery and performance have remained consistent over time, “that to me feels great.”
